SONGS OF LONDON (IX)

16/05/11 ANCIENT LIFE IS RISING A.BARO

From Ancient Mesopotamia
Where the culture emerged between two rivers
To the modern world arrives neurasthenia
And about knowledge, there are only slivers.

From that land arising Babylonians and Sumerians
Assyrians of bravery recognized
From its fertile valleys, of the agrarians
The most marvellous paradise.

Sennacherib and his “Palace without rival”
Asurnasirpal of Assyria, king who built Nimrud
Ziggurats and astronomers of Babylon
And the Royal Tombs of Ur.

The ancient life is rising through the ages
The ancient life is rising through the new age.

Empire of Egypt with all its dynasties
Ozymandias, also known as Ramses
Extracted from the sands, king of kings
The blood of gods running through your veins.

Your footprint, from the Old Kingdom
Until the Ptolemaic opens the earth in two
By the Nile, generous with his children
Remains of the pyramids of Giza and breakthrough.

The Rosetta Stone teach us all your secrets
Granite sarcophagus and Egyptian mummies
Nebamon hunting in the marshes
Magic and rituals not for dummies

The ancient life is rising through the ages
The ancient life is rising through the new age

19/05/11 SOUVENIRS A.BARO

What would you take a souvenir of the city
If you can’t the air from the Thames?
Would you take the sunset, so pretty
Or the blades of grass in parks, then?
What would you take if you have no money
To buy all the wonderful feelings you get?
What would you take a souvenir of the city?
I’ll take everything that I felt.

Souvenirs, souvenirs, a piece of paper
That flew in the old station of my memories
Souvenirs, oh, souvenirs, a slice of an ancient
Figure of a worn ivory bridge.

Any object will awaken your longing season
It can be an old train ticket or a postcard
Those little things that get caught in treason
That arise in your mind from the backyard
Sweet or melancholic songs in you head
What will you feel if you are out of guard?
Any object will awaken your longing season
And you’ll come back in the time.

Souvenirs, souvenirs, a piece of paper
That flew in the old station of my memories
Souvenirs, oh, souvenirs, a slice of an ancient
Figure of a worn ivory bridge.

Music

What would you take if you have no money
To buy all the wonderful feelings you get?
What would you take a souvenir of the city?
I’ll take everything that I felt.

Souvenirs, souvenirs, a piece of paper
That flew in the old station of my memories
Souvenirs, oh, souvenirs, a slice of an ancient
Figure of a worn ivory bridge.

SONGS OF LONDON(VIII)

Two songs I wrote in London....

13/05/11 I KNOW THAT PETER PAN LIVES IN KENSINGTON GARDENS A.BARO

I know that Peter Pan lives in Kensington Gardens
A robin whispered the other day in my ears
No, not the statue that is next to Long Water
It’s just that I’m sure it’s so, yes indeed.

A rabbit told a squirrel, which was passing by there
While nibbling dandelions, saw something very strange
A flying shadow was coming out from his lair.

The oak spread its branches trying to hide from the sight
The owl hooted while “that” crossed the sky through the night
Jasmine brought forth its fragrance to complete the whole rite.

I know that Peter Pan lives in Kensington Gardens
I’ve seen tiny footprints on the grass near the lake
There were not any sort of marks, they were like a warning
I know ‘cos I noticed fairy dust on the air.

If you look very attentively you could see in the Serpentine
The figure of a crocodile searching for another hand
And a couple of Indians watching over from their land

Some little mermaids singing and having fun near the bank
And several fierce pirates on a boat, not good guys
While Captain James Hook pulls his sword to attack.

Music

And elm has told the yew and this to the hedgehog
Wendy Darling returns to be the mother of the Lost Boys
Then it resumes the magic flute and its beautiful song.

He tells me if you can see with the eyes of the heart
It will be as if you come back to be a child
Then you will see at last Tinkerbell and Peter Pan.

I know that Peter Pan lives in Kensington Gardens
That spring beyond time, James Barrie told in my ears
George Frampton placed a dream on the grass and that morning
All the boys, who we are, we come back to believe.
I was in Kensington and I know that Peter Pan lives.

15/05/11 THE WALTZ OF THE DINOSAURS A.BARO

Sliding us the mechanic staircase
Through the ages of the Earth and around
Volcanic elements from the beginning to the end
Gods of the antiquity, they observe us to come.

Earthquake and destruction every where
We follow the natural way of life
It begins to sprout the primordial soup
The shaking comes from below and we are out of time.

With rhythmic movements, the dance begins
The big dinosaur gets off its pedestal
Old Man in the corner, he has seen everything
Look the Waltz of the Dinosaurs.

Tyrannosaurus tries to catch Gallimimus
Camarasaurus still doesn’t know where he is
Pachycephalosurus wants to continue being a dreamer
Hypsilophodon smiles with its protruding teeth.

Music

With rhythmic movements, the dance begins
The big dinosaur gets off its pedestal
Old Man in the corner, he has seen everything
Look the Waltz of the Dinosaurs.

The ancient sequoia still wonders why
As the timeline gets fuzzy as fog
Archaeopterix seduces with its flight
And Charles Darwin knows that will not be anymore.

Baryonyx doesn’t find its fishes, no one
Iguanodon takes a few steps arching its claw
Triceratops kicks the ground as if were a bison
And Diplodocus takes over the Central Hall.

With rhythmic movements, the dance begins
The big dinosaur gets off its pedestal
Old Man in the corner, he has seen everything
Look the Waltz of the Dinosaurs.

SONGS OF LONDON VII

This is my point of view about sensational CAMDEN TOWN.....

09/05/11 LIVING THE RHYTHM IN CAMDEN TOWN A.BARO

I left the subway station in Camden Town

A sunny day through my face

I know it’s not a resting place

I heard behind, the sound

Of an old saxophone

And start to feel the rhythm of Camden.

I walk down the street and people go (come and go)

A guy with a punk hairdo

He wants me to get a tattoo

And I say “Next time, my friend

My skin is only lent”

And start to feel the life of Camden.

I see multi-coloured belts

And Star Wars funny shirts

Hundreds of music albums, just two pounds

Bobbies and beefeaters thumbnails

Old books call me to purchase

That’s and more and more in Camden Town

I stop and drink a cold beer, very cold

Vegetable stands, they hope

To have everything sold

By the end of the day

I look sideways without shame

I like to look the vendors of Camden

Music

After touring charming shops

Of fantastic Camden Lock

I’m going to Camden Village for rest

I doubt between foreign dishes

To meet my best wishes

Looking the Regent’s Canal in Camden Town

I left the subway station in Camden Town

A sunny day through my face

I know it’s not a resting place

I heard behind, the sound

Of an old saxophone

And start to feel the rhythm of Camden.

Start to feel the rhythm of Camden

I like living the rhythm of Camden Town.

SONGS OF LONDON(V)

I was in Tower of London...and this is my flight over and inside it....

01/05/11 THE CROWS OF THE TOWER A.BARO

On the flight of the crows
History recalls, the men and the spirit of the Tower
It’s the right of the Crown
Survival is on the wings and the heart of the crows of the Tower

There was a time when blood dyed the grass on the ground
When the Queen left her dreams, then, she flew
On the green and embraced to the time and the space
All the kings, now, they’re seeing our wings cover them

On the flight of the crows
History recalls, the men and the spirit of the Tower
It’s the right of the Crown
Survival is on the wings and the heart of the crows of the Tower

From Roman Times on that land where the shadows advanced
A Norman King built it to submit their inhabitants
From Byward to Beauchamp, all the towers began
To be guard of the kingdom of man on this land.

On the flight of the crows
History recalls, the men and the spirit of the Tower
It’s the right of the Crown
Survival is on the wings and the heart of the crows of the Tower

Music

I will lift my black wings and I’ll fly close to mine
If we fall, the Tower and the Crown will fall at a time
History says so and It may be so, but we know it won't
We believe that the spirit is who keeps the memory of all.

On the flight of the crows
History recalls, the men and the spirit of the Tower
It’s the right of the Crown
Survival is on the wings and the heart of the crows of the Tower

On the flight of the crows
History recalls, the men and the spirit of the Tower
It’s the right of the Crown
Survival is on the wings and the heart of the crows of the Tower
